A New Kind of King - FREE STUDY
We live in a broken world. Our leaders, our systems of justice, our institutions are broken. We are broken. Like the Israelites in 1 Samuel, we want a human leader to come and make everything right, but every leader will disappoint us.
Except one.
In Scripture, the concept of Christ as King and the Kingdom of God is woven through both the Old and New Testaments. But His kingship and His kingdom are like no other. In this study, we will explore the nature of Christ’s kingship, examining how His rule challenges and transforms each of us and the world around us. We will look at how Jesus, through His birth, His life, His death, and His resurrection, establishes a kingdom that is unlike any earthly kingdom — one that is characterized by sacrifice, service, righteousness, mercy, and justice. Jesus' kingship addresses not only the world’s brokenness but also our sin and need for redemption. From His humble birth to His sacrificial death and glorious resurrection, Christ is the King who came to redeem sinners, establish a new kingdom, and ultimately make all things new and right.
As we study together, we will reflect on how Jesus’ kingship impacts our daily lives, shaping how we view the world, the leaders of our day, our relationships, and our role in bringing others into His kingdom. This Advent study will guide us through the rich truths about Christ’s reign—both His current rule and His future, eternal kingdom. What a glorious hope!
May this study encourage you this Christmas with the perspective of biblical history and the hope of promises fulfilled and the final Kingdom still to come.
